“Gordon Brown is said to be ‘very concerned’ about allegations ex minister Elliot Morley claimed £16,000 expenses on a loan he had already paid. Mr Morley has said it was a ‘mistake’ and has paid the money back – but his future as a Labour MP may be in doubt”.

The Parliamentary “Fees Office” needs serious investigation too – they do not seem to have audited these claims, just passed them through on the nod without any checking as to the legitimacy of their content. Fair enough they asked for receipts but they didn’t seem to read them or notice that some of the items bore little relevance to parliamentary business.
